WANT

I don’t often covet the silly or expensive things that I see around on campus. I don’t care about the Prada bags or the sunglasses that probably cost more than my entire outfit.

Today, however, I find myself intensely longing for the brightly colored rain boots that the undergrads all seem to be wearing.

  1. I picked up a pair of totally rad rocket dog rain boots about 3years ago, and I love them, they are so very cute and totally practical. I think I paid $45.00 for them but have gotten more wear out of them than I ever thought possible. It seems that this is now some sort of a trend, and I say go to Target. They have really cute rain boots there, that are totally affordable. http://www.target.com/gp/search/601-3478830-9714503?field-keywords=rain+boots&url=index%3Dtarget&ref=sr_bx_1_1&x=0&y=0

Rain boots are much better than snow boots for navigating slushy snow.

  2. I’ve also been coveting rain boots (this pair specifically), but it seems crazy to spend $60 on a piece of rubber/plastic/whatever it is. I should check out Target.

  3. I know, it seems ridiculous to spend so much money but they are SO IRRESISTIBLY CUTE! I’ve had my eyes on these but now I’m tempted by these other ones… what to do?

  4. I’m proud to say I was ahead of the trend! I got several pairs of Jeffrey Campbells. I’d get ’em from here: http://www.dllrainwear.com/servlet/the-Adult-Rain-Boots/Categories.

But they aren’t as bright or beautiful as they were a few years ago. I used to laugh at U of I: I was the only person I knew who wore rain boots. All the undergrads wore flip flops when it rained, even if it was 35 degrees. Guess they caught on.

I do have to say, though, that spending $40-55 on boots didn’t seem so bad once but they do spring leaks sometimes and I finally decided to just buy boots from Target (once they started making ’em).:
